There are Two Types of CASES that An Inmate may be Given, Minor and Major. A Case is Created When A “CO” (Correctional Officer/Guard) Decides to Write One on You. You WILL Know when this happens by when the CO asks for your ID. You May be Able to Talk Your Way Out of It, but Most Likely You will Not. All Minor Cases are Usually Decided within 48 Hours. You will Appear in Front of a LT. or Sgt. to Plead Your Case. It will be Dismissed or Punishment will Be Given. The Least Punishment that You May Receive is a Verbal Warning, no Restrictions. Restrictions May Be: No Commissary, No Day Room TV, Etc. A Major Case Will Create A Harsher Penalty and Could Affect Your Chances of Being Paroled. Unfortunately, A “CO” can write You Up for any reason. It can come down to your word against his word on whether or not You actually violated a rule!!

MAJOR Cases will be used during your Parole Review Process on whether to grant you Parole or Not! It is One of the Eleven items looked at during the Review and is called “INSTITUTIONAL ADJUSTMENT”
